 100th Anniversary Celebration

Two upcoming community “fair” opportunities to advertise Scouting!

(1)
Saturday, April 17th, we need at least one Scouting unit to man a Scout booth at the Children’s Museum Health Fair, from
9 am-5 pm (or we could do shifts with a few units).  You would be accompanying Dr. Eliades with demonstrations including bandaging & improvised stretcher races. During this event, you may highlight your unit, while also giving an opportunity for the community to have fun and learn about Scouting.

(2) Sunday, April 25th, Homeward Bound Walk (for
Madison & Delaware Counties ), Chesterfield Millcreek Civic Center.  5K walk/run begins at 2 pm , registration at 12:30 pm .    Since this is a fundraiser to help fight homelessness, Leslie is asking that each walker/runner pay $10 to participate – please register a/s/a/p.  If you simply want to donate, please submit to Leslie Anderson by April 21st.  An anonymous donor in our district will match dollar-for-dollar what we raise.   We also need at least one unit to man a Scout booth during the walk/run.  For more information, call 643-0218 or go to www.HomewardBoundIndiana.org.

Please contact Leslie Anderson (District Director – 288-0223, leanders@crossroadsbsa.org) or
Jay Pugsley (District Activities Chair – 760-8314, jay.pugsley@alcoa.com) ., if your unit would like to participate in either of these.

Webelos Transition

Cub Scout Packs should be crossing over their second year Webelos into Boy Scout Troops. There are far too many Cub Scouts lost in this transition. Scout masters, make it a goal to talk personally to every Webelo and their parents to see just what their intentions are after Cub Scouting, and invite them to join your Troop! Now is the time for Scoutmasters to be communicating with Cub Packs about crossovers! Cub Leaders can also play a roll by encouraging their boys and parents to give Boy Scouting a try. The best relationship is one that lasts all year with joint activities over a long period of time to form a familiarity with the Boy Scout Troop that the boys will move into. Earn the F.O. Belzer Award by crossing over 75% of the 2nd year Webelos! If there are any questions concerning Webelos transition, please feel free to give Leslie Anderson or Megan Boots a call at the Scout Office at 765-288-0223.
